100 days 100 reading cards – An Effective Strategy for Improving Reading Skill of Children

It's a classroom activity by using WhatsApp group. Every day the kids are provided simple reading cards with two or three comprehensive questions. They have to send their voice clips through WhatsApp group. Some of these cards can be included stories or rhymes.

Importance of evolving texts parallel to textbooks

In LP classes, the prescribed textbook stories are too long to get the enthusiasm of the kids. Small LO based- attractive evolving local texts are very effective and helpful in achieving the goals. They are very interesting for both students and parents.

Puppetry in English Classroom

Today's children are so used to having visual cues that enhance their learning, as in TV and online classrooms, that they need lessons which combine visual with auditory learning. They are much more motivated and seem to engage more quickly when they can watch and listen to an actual demonstration of the new language they are learning. As a result, I have realized that, having puppets and animated teaching as part of my lesson makes the language come alive in our English classroom.

It emphasizes the acquisition of the complete essence of subject matter through cognizance. In language classes, the development of Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing (LSRW) skills is paramount. When engaging with comprehension passages, students are encouraged to read and then write answers to accompanying questions. Within the Percipience Procedure, each lesson is broken down into manageable paragraphs, prompting learners to generate questions and formulate answers independently. Reading passages aloud encourages clarification of doubts among peers, enhancing cognitive abilities and problem-solving skills. Crafting questions deepens understanding, with the use of a thesaurus aiding in vocabulary enrichment. Learners employ various skills such as puzzle creation, drawing, word-building, jumbled sentences, and event sequencing. In classroom settings, this method can be employed as a group activity, diversifying content among mixed-category student groups. Each group is tasked with generating direct short questions, puzzles, images, yes/no inquiries, grammatical exercises, synonyms, and antonyms. For poetry, questions may focus on identifying figures of speech. This self-learning procedure is applicable to both prose and poetry classes, enabling comprehensive learning with minimal teacher intervention.

E-LIFE (English Learning Interestingly Fluently and Effectively) – A Programme for Developing communication skills and confidence LP and UP students

E-LIFE (English Learning Interestingly Fluently and Effectively) is an innovative English Club launched on June 12, 2023, targeting communication skill enhancement among LP and UP students. Operating daily at 1:30 pm, it engages students from 1st to 7th standard in diverse activities like self-introduction, diary writing, storytelling, and more. Each of the five groups is led by appointed leaders, fostering a collaborative learning environment. E-LIFE not only improves language skills but also nurtures creativity and confidence, making it a vital tool for holistic student development.

Enhancing English Speaking Skills through Confidence Building in Children

This study aimed to enhance the oral communication skill (speaking skill) of my students. The sample of the study consisted of 17 students (10 female students and the 7 male students). All of them are studying English language. We tried a lot of experiments to improve their speaking skill (language games, listening practices, storytelling etc) but those activities couldn't make remarkable result. When I mine the above mention problem, I realised that, many problems are there related to speaking skill. Such as confusion and embarrassment, lack of confidence etc. Among these the results showed that the most frequent problem was the lack of confidence. The study also presented some appropriate solutions to overcome the weakness in speaking skill. Such as gave them familiar situations, contexts, fearless circumstances, that leads to boost their self-confidence. Languages always related with expressions and emotions. Through those languages generating organically and spontaneously in such context
