TE year2handbook/Year2 Unit1 Brief Explanation of Key Terms
Brief Explanation of Key Terms
(Terms already covered in this course in the Year 1 hand book are not covered here)
Digital class
This term is usually used to suggest the use of computers along with a projector (with or without internet connectivity) in the class by the teacher. The use of a computer with projector should get integrated into teaching-learning such that the teacher sees these as another set of pedagogical tools which she may use when she sees their relevance, and all classrooms should be equipped with these, to provide that opportunity to the teacher. Hence (like in the case of many other items like 'digital camera', the word digital should drop off).
The term 'smart class' is also used synonymously, however it is better to avoid using this term, since 'smartness' cannot and should not be a function of digital tools alone. 'Digital class' is a factual statement, while 'smart class' is a description which may not be true.
Simulation
Simulation in this course refers to the use of digital methods to imitate real-life or hypothetical situation on a computer. In this process, the variables associated with the process or model can be altered to study the impact on the outcomes.
